If you have ever loved a special dog and felt the unconditional love and acceptance that was given to you, then you know dogs are God's four-legged Angels on earth. This poem is dedicated to them--too many to name. Thank you for bringing such joy and comfort into our lives. And that goes for those special cats, too. ❤️🐾🐾👼🏼🐶👼🏼🐱

You Came with Angel's Wings

You came into my life with Angel's wings
Bringing me joy, lifting my heart up to sing

I remember those adoring eyes and snaggletooth face
I long for one more lick, one more embrace

Your love filled me up, again and again
Now I've lost my very best friend

Just to feel one last wet, tender kiss
Your love and devotion I will always miss

True unconditional love I do now know
Little one so dear, I miss and loved you so

You always could comfort and relieve my fears
So now I sit crying, shedding my streaming tears

Your blind, undying love is like no other
It even rivals the love of a devoted mother

My heart you left is now with a hole
That can only be filled by your sweet little soul

You lived each one of your days to please
My loneliness you were always able to fill and ease

You stole my heart only then to break it
Without you in my life it will be hard to make it

Oh, how I miss your wagging tail
With your endless love I could never fail

Without your love I feel such sorrow
I cannot imagine my empty tomorrow

For me you would sacrifice your life
For me you would take on any strife

The loss I feel is so deep and real
I pray to God to someway help me heal

You pulled my heartstrings then they tangle
This is real love no matter the angle

How can I get through this pain
Because of one little pup, I will never be the same

God sent you to be His comforter, for us you care
So I will open my heart again, it is worth the price and the fare

It is to know this special kind of love
To be sure it is from God up above

It will be hard, but I will try again
Risking my heart to lose my best friend

Your short number of years will have to suffice
As all your love gave me such an enriched life

So my little earth Angel take your flight
You are Heavenbound after the sleepy night

I know that God holds your special place
Then one day we will see each other face to face

All dogs go to Heaven; there is no choice
So little doggy Angels, together we rejoice

We will then run, frolic, and play
We will be together again on that happy day

So they come to earth with cold, wet noses and Angel's wings to say
It is God who has made it all this way

So no wonder it is not odd
That dog spelled backwards is God
