Forgiveness
Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself. The gift is Freedom from being held captive by removing the power held over you that can block your own Peace and Joy. The gift of Forgiveness is Freedom, and the gift of Freedom is Peace. Peace then opens the door to Joy so it may enter your life once again.
This does not mean the actions that hurt you are ever condoned or excused, but by choosing to forgive, you release yourself from the bondage of pain and suffering that can dominate your life. The gifts received are Freedom, Peace, and Joy.
Forgiveness
Forgiveness is what heals
But it can be so difficult to feel
Pride is the obstacle one must get past
Ego blocks the gate so very fast
When winning becomes the game
It will inflict the most pain with shame
Forgiveness is not about keeping the score
It's about loving and giving even more
Forgiving does not mean excusing
It does mean to stop accusing
You will probably never forget the hurt
But forgiving can rebuild your self-worth
Humility is fed by love and care
It knows forgiveness will not make it fair
Forgiveness is the price of freedom's way
Retaliation of the hurt will never pay
Forgiveness may not be deserved
But loving relationships it can preserve
It can spare others so much hurt
But it means you will not be put first
Forgiveness, from bondage it will free
Releasing the words of hurt you feel and see
Finally letting go of all the pain
Allows freedom and peace to remain
It means joy can come back in
To feel happiness once more again
Forgiveness becomes a choice to choose
It does mean you will surrender, but not lose
It's a chance you have to take
Because waiting may make it too late
Then one's heart can be lost
When you are not willing to bear the cost
Trust must be restored
It is what will heal the pain and discord
The forgiveness you receive by God's grace
Is love and mercy for man's unmerited case
So as you receive forgiveness, freely to give
Then the choice becomes how you want to live
Love will be the heart's only cure
When healing happens you will know for sure
Forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself
It will provide you with life's genuine wealth
It is a gift of all gifts
Hurt and pain are what it lifts
To know the gift of forgiveness
Is to receive the heart's most loving kiss
