In This Holy Place
Recently I visited a century old church in France. The stone pillars and arching ceiling were immense. The manmade structure was an architectural feat. (The photo featured here depicts the scene of my inspiration.) As I quietly sat among the breathtaking grandeur of the church my eyes seized on the huge Crucifix of our suffering Savior, God, as a man, who came willingly to give His life.
As I stared at Christ, I was overtaken by His sacrifice, a pure gift of love. I saw the pain and suffering in His sad eyes and slumped body. My eyes filled with tears dripping from my face. Liquid prayers of gratitude and thanksgiving that He died for me so I might be set free.
In This Holy Place
In this Holy place
Somewhere far away you take
As if floating on a still quiet lake
Tears in my eyes His suffering makes
Christ my Savior, He died for me
He is the one who finally helped me see
I am no longer afraid and need to flee
I rest with who I am, to just be
Freedom lives in His sacrifice
His death the payment does suffice
No longer in my heart is fear or strife
No longer do I wear a mask or disguise
Now the Holy Spirit will remain near
With Him so close I have no fears
On my heart His love is permanently seared
I now have eyes that see and ears that hear
Amen

"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."
2 Corinthians 3:17
"But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him."
Hebrews 9:26c-28
"My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world."
