Into the Light

Everyday we deal with hundreds of choices. Sometimes we are not consciously aware of what we think, speak, and do. We are constantly choosing light or darkness, good or evil, right or wrong. Small surrenders of seemingly no significant outcome can gradually accumulate, slipping us down that slippery slope to sin. Soon we find ourselves surrounded by darkness. We are either turning towards God or away from Him. It is only He who can lead us from the dark into the light.

Into the Light

Dark shadows we shed may stay and linger
Within our souls they can persist and malinger

The flesh and the world are two contentious strongholds
Our character and future they can permanently change and mold

Repeated sinful thoughts may fester and manifest
It is Satan who is present putting us to the test

Small surrenders can permanently last
Added together our future they may cast

Resisting temptation will give the human spirit no rest
God will help us, but we must pray and request

It is only He who can shine a light for our feet
To show us the way so we won't suffer permanent defeat

God does not want us to lose, He is on our side
But within our hearts there is nothing from Him we can hide

The choice of light or dark we each must make
Every moment we choose so don't forsake

One day unknown our demise we will meet
Our choices determine who will be there to greet

Each former decision can bear its heavy weight
Deathbed remorse and wishes may be made too late

Into the light, the only way for an eternal heavenly fate
On our own without God's grace we will never rate

Into our darkness God will shine His light
When we decide to walk by faith and not by sight
