The Yearning

Even during our most happy moments, it never feels totally complete. There is something missing, lacking, not totally satisfied. As we become still and quiet, we can feel with each heartbeat a yearning, a calling for home.

There is a longing and desire that always remains for something more than what is. It is to return to our Creator to be once more pure, complete and whole. This yearning is for our origin, our true home. So for now, we hold the tension of our yearning, waiting, as the best is yet to come. I wrote this poem with these thoughts in mind.

The Yearning

There is something within us, a longing, a yearning
In our hearts is this smoldering flame always burning
There is no complete contentment or peace
Because we are not home, there remains feelings of loss and grief
We get remote brief glimmers every now and then
Otherwise, we continue to make believe and pretend
It is to be totally whole and complete
That we are unable to obtain and meet
This desire remains kindled not winced
This thirst cannot be satisfied or quenched
As we grow older, we grow closer to our real home
It is only there we will never feel sad or alone
Finally to be completely accepted and known
Our hearts will be satisfied, never again to roam
For now we only see glimpses partly
because we still see through the glass darkly
The veil will one day be removed to clearly see
Our souls will then take flight, be set free
So until then our Angels, solace they will send
Death gives no period, but a comma as there is no end....
Amen

"For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known."
1 Corinthians 13:12

"But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."
2 Corinthians 3:16-18

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
