Love’s Wellspring
My mother lived to be 101 years old. I can say without a doubt my mother loved me more than anyone on this planet, as so many mothers love their children.
My mother loved me with all of my imperfections and accepted me as the flawed person that I am. This kind of unconditional love comes closest to the love we receive from God. This poem is dedicated in memory of my beloved mother and all the mothers that love their children unconditionally.
Love's Wellspring
The unselfish, unconditional love continually flows outward and overwhelms me.
This love is the purest in the world.
It is given with no expectation.
I know the love of God because of you.
To know that I am because of you is enough.
When I feel unworthy, you are there encouraging.
My unsureness vanishes at your touch.
If you are goodness, then I must be the same.
This bond surely cannot break.
Won't I recognize you transformed?
Doesn't the eye know it's hand?
Will I know your mother and her mother, too?
It is all connected.
Love is more than the sum of the parts.
Eternal, enduring, knowing no end—
Love is the wellspring from God's heart.

"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.
Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them."
