The Source

My poem, "The Source," is about what happens to us when we experience deep emotions such as love, passion, hurt, or sadness. These emotions can tap into a deep creative place that lies within us, unleashing it. In our brokenness we can crack open to discover this silver lining. What becomes revealed and discovered is a powerful connection to the source of all beauty and creativity, our Creator.

Powerful, deep emotions can be provoked by people and incidences that we experience in life. It is not so much about them, but what they trigger and release within us. This is where poetry, art, literature, theater, music, dance, and all of our creative expressions and experiences originate. It is a channeling of something greater than ourselves. It overflows from within us to others; we are simple vectors or transmitters. It is how great music brings tears to our eyes, how a beautiful painting touches our hearts, or how poetry resonates within our souls. It changes us, moving us spiritually to a better, more enlightened place. In essence it connects us to others and to God, our life source, The Source.

The Source

You were the catalyst that helped me discover myself
It wasn't about us, but the ignition of the connection to help me see
A piece was missing that you held and found
No longer will the elusive Source confound

The Source lives deep within in a secret place
Untapped it lies hidden, dormant with no face
It joins us to all humanity and the living
It enables us to know love, receiving and giving

There are different degrees and shades
If not nurtured and fed, it will fade
It sparks and kindles our creative life force
Beauty and art are its main expression, its course

It is what dreams and visions are made
It keeps us bold, fearless, unafraid
Timeless truth constant it remains
The key to our spiritual growth it contains

To experience connected transcendence
Is the gift, the known consequence
With reflection playing over each and every sign
Otherwise you may miss it, never to find

It allows one to really be present and just be
Harmony with nature, the world, space, it frees
Euphoric bliss, knowing, peace are in the joining; it disarms
The Source is our home; it cannot harm

It is God everywhere, inside, outside in the air
Our deepest connection, why we love and care
Beyond time the Source lives and stands
It remains for us to seek, to find; it is His plan

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.'"
Jeremiah 29: 11-13

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."
Matthew 7:7-8

"God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’"
Acts 17: 27-28

"For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."
Romans 1:20
